Generac has set the standard in the business of power supply since they originated back in 1959. They produce many types of generators, including portable, standby, RV based, and industrial. Generac produces portable generators with a wattage up to 17500 and as much as 48 kW for residential generators. Innovation

Ever since they have been in business, their focus has been geared toward building efficient and user friendly generators. The company is where it's at today due to a constant process of innovations that began when it was started by Robert Kerns.

In 1959, Generac began using the latest in silicon diodes technology on their generators. They were the first to implement the transfer switch in the 80's. They brought out a new OHVI engine in the 90's for their generators as well.

The value of the company has grown even more recently due to the production of bi-fuel generators and the modular power system. The user can manage the load-sharing digitally and also balance the generator circuit with the modular power system. Natural gas and diesel can be used to operate bi-fuel generators. Perhaps most important is Generac's emphasis on home safety as evidenced by their support of the Home Safety Council. Also, in 2009 they were awarded the highly regarded Good Housekeeping seal.

Customer Service

Generac is known for their in-depth customer service they provide. They give a wattage-chart to consumers to help them figure out how much they can power at one time. Knowing how much a portable generator can power is important to avoid overloading it and causing serious chemical, fire, and electrical issues.
