They are great for power interruptions but you cannot use them inside the house or place them outside the rain. A carport will be enough but it's best to talk to an expert before an emergency occurs.

At present, the average run time on a gas tank is about 5 hours but since it operates on the similar fuel as a lawn mower, this is not a major subject. There aren't many diesel power generators that come in suitcase style. The diesel generators may never be given in huge production as most end users running diesel choose heavy-duty equipment.

There are wheeled power generators, a suitcase power generator is handier in lots of situations where it's needed as it's designed to be brought in any place. It's already a common generator in some military place and in the future it could give some practical uses for emergency personnel's such as EMT's and firemen.

There are several battery powered generators of these that are cheaper, lighter and could be used inside the house since there's no engine. But they're not as powerful and you are simply running out off stored energy. Once you encountered low battery, you are out of luck.
