2001 Toyota RAV4 Owners Manual

Owners manual are being provided so the vehicle will have a guide on how to go about in operating the vehicle.  It has instructions on what to do and some not to do.  Without the owners' manual, we often just try to discover operating or opening some of the vehicle parts.  That is the easy part of it without the manual.  One that will hardly be found will be the vehicle's specifications.  Some specifications like tire sizes and pressure, type of brake fluid, spark plug gap and brake fluid are labeled on the vehicle.

For a 2001 Toyota RAV4 Owners Manual or chilton auto repair manual, it is important to have it because it is built on a larger platform than its predecessor and with an all-new engine.  This model is the first year for the second-generation Toyota RAV4.   Here are some important information and specification for owners of this RAV4 model:  For Capacities - Oil/filter change: 4.2 qt. (4.0L); Automatic transmission: 4.1 qt. (3.9L); Manual transmission: FWD, 2.6 qt. (2.5L): AWD, 3.6 qt. (3.4L);

Transfer case: 1 qt. (0.9L); Fuel tank capacity: 14.7 gal. (55.6L); Cooling system: 6.8 qt. (6.4L);and for Air Conditioning Refrigerant: 17.64 ± 1.76 oz. (500 ± 50 g).  With this, owners are aware now the maximum capacity of fluids.  Many of the parts that contain the fluids should not be over filled.  For brake fluid and coolant you can view the limit of topping them.

Lubricants type or standards are as follows: Brake fluid Type: DOT 3; Engine oil: API SJ or newer, SAE 5W-30; Automatic transmission oil: ATF Type T-IV; Manual transmission oil: API GL-4 or -5, SAE 75W-90; Transfer case: API GL-5, SAE 90; Power steering: Dexron III; Refrigerant: R134a; Compressor: PAG ND-OIL 8.  The specified types here have initials like  for SAE is Society of Automotive Engineers.  API stands for American Petroleum Institute.  Except for ATF, it stands for Automatic Transmission Fluid, not an organizational authority.  The types indicated here are compatible with the parts using the lubricants.  There are lubricants that have other chemicals that could be harmful.

The other 2001 Toyota RAV4 Owners Manual/Chevrolet Repair Manual information important to owners is as follows:  Maintenance Requirements:  Change Oil and filter after every 7,500 miles; Drain and replace Radiator Coolant every 30,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first, and  Replace Spark plugs after every 30,000 miles.  For wheel alignment and adjustments,  Front Alignment: Toe: FWD, 0; AWD, 1mm (0.040 in.); Camber: FWD, -0°25'; AWD, -0°20'; Caster: FWD, 1°55'; AWD, 2°00'; SAI: FWD, 11°00'; AWD, 10°45'; Steering Compressor: 3.5 oz. (100cc).  For Rear Alignment: Toe: FWD, 4mm (0.160 in.); AWD, 3mm (0.120 in.); Camber: FWD, 1°15'; AWD, 0°55'.  Wheel alignments should be done whenever it is observed that tires wear out unevenly or for every complete 4-tire change.  The specifications shown here are just a portion of what could be found on the owner's manual.  The others not indicated here are more for certified technician information.  The information here should help owners of 2001 Toyota RAV4 who do not have the owner's manual available.
